Expeditions can be divided into two types:

Under Canvas Adventures and Accommodated Adventures

UNDER CANVAS ADVENTURE
Are you looking for an adventure? Well, camping in the wilds of Africa won’t let you down – just imagine experiencing the wilds of Africa by day and then listening to the roar of lions or the haunting cry of a jackal by night! During your safari you can expect to stay in designated camp sites in national parks, private reserves, private campsites and towns. Facilities are of good quality with hot showers, electricity, laundry facilities, and there is generally a restaurant and a bar available. Further north some camps are more basic and have limited facilities, such as simple reed enclosures for showers!
In the national parks of Botswana we generally use private wild campsites, and there are no facilities. There are bucket showers, with warm water from the fire, and a pit toilet tent. Wild camping is a genuine wilderness experience and we pack out everything we pack in to reduce our impact on the local environment. All camping equipment is supplied, with the exception of your sleeping bag and pillow, which can even be rented if necessary. The canvas dome tents are quite large and have insect nets. Assembly takes about 5 minutes. Each camper is given a nice thick mattress, which is warm and comfortable. Camping chairs have a backrest, and all cooking and eating utensils will also be provided. Food is kept in sealed containers and cooler boxes or freezers ensuring fresh and sanitary food.
And remember, it’s not all camping! On most safaris there are a few nights spent in a modest lodge or guest house. The twin rooms generally have a bathroom, but occasionally you may need to share bathrooms with guest from another room. More specifics can be found on the detailed itinerary; send us request and we’ll be happy to email you a copy!

Booking solo – if you are travelling alone, you do not have to pay more. We will simply “tent” you with another same gender single person. You may, however, request a single tent with a price supplement if you so desire. Only 2 single tents are available on each tour, so book one in advance if you are interested.

Limited participation – On camping safaris, participants are required to help with a few tasks during the tour. For example, you will need to put up and take down your tent (if you need a hand, especially at the beginning, your guide is happy to help). You should pack and unpack the vehicle and give a hand with the meal preparation. The guides do all of the provisioning, meal planning and cooking, but a bit of help with preparation before and cleaning up after the meal is always appreciated. You’ll find that the guides are extraordinary “bush chefs” and you will be amazed at the variety of the meals they will prepare. They are also well versed in handling special dietary needs.

ACCOMODATED ADVENTURE
If travelling to Africa has always been your dream but you don’t envision yourself camping in the wild, we offer a wide range of accommodated adventures. This type of adventure offers interesting and exciting trips that will get you up close and personal with Africa’s nature and its people. We use simple, comfortable and well-located accommodations and other partner services to create our small group safaris, which are a fantastic value for the money. Accommodated adventures are based on the small group adventure safaris concept. Overnight accommodations are in guest houses, chalets, lodges or permanent tented camps. The accommodations are 2 to 3 star and are comfortable, clean and friendly. They are booked on a twin share basis. The majority of rooms have en-suite bathrooms, but occasionally they are shared. If you would like more information on the accommodations, send us a request and we’ll gladly send you the specifics on the accommodations for each night in our detailed itinerary.
COMFORT – indicates rooms with an en-suite bathroom in a lodge or guest house.
RUSTIC – indicates either a shared a bathroom or more basic accommodation.
On a couple of the itineraries, there is a visit to the Okavango Delta with 2 nights in a tented camp. Each mini meru tent has twin camp beds with linens and an en-suite chemical toilet. There is a shared bucket shower tent with hot water. Most meals are prepared by our capable guides and include roadside picnic style lunches on travelling days and dinners around a fire in the evening. Depending on the itinerary, dinners and breakfasts may be catered in-house by the lodge.
With professional guides to lead your safari and a clean and comfortable bed to sleep in every night, rest assured that you will have a wonderful holiday.

Booking solo – if you are travelling alone, you do not have to pay more. If you are travelling on your own, we will simply book you in a room with another same gender single person. You may, however, request a single room with a price supplement if you so desire. Only 2 single rooms are available on each tour, so book one in advance if you are interested.

Limited participation – On our accommodated adventures, participants are required to help with a few tasks during the tour. When necessary the guides will take care of meal preparation but participants will be asked on a rotating basis to help with the cleaning up afterwards. Where restaurant meals are included, obviously no assistance is required. Remember, when everyone gets involved in the safari, it makes the entire tour more successful!
